Excellent properties and application occasions of polytetrafluoroethylene pipes

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is the main variety of fluoroplastics. At present, the three main products of PTFE seals are suspension resin, disperse resin and deep shrinkage dispersion, which account for 50%-60%, 20%-35% and 10%-20% of the consumption respectively. Suspension PTFE is mainly used for sealing rings, gaskets, chemical pumps, valves, pipe fittings and equipment lining, electrical insulation parts and films, etc.

Polytetrafluoroethylene tetrafluoroethylene hose by dispersion method is mainly used for corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, high dielectric wire and cable, chemical pipeline lining, etc. Polytetrafluoroethylene concentrated dispersions are mainly used for anti-sticking coatings, impregnated glass cloth and asbestos in food, textile, paper and other fields. With the continuous development of material application technology, the three major shortcomings of PTFE materials: cold flow, weldability and melting fabrication are gradually being overcome, which makes its application prospect in many fields such as optics, electronics, medicine, petrochemical oil transportation and seepage prevention more broad.

Due to the defects in corrosion resistance of rubber, glass, metal alloy and other materials, it is difficult to meet the harsh conditions of temperature, pressure and coexistence of chemical media, resulting in considerable losses. PTFE has become the main corrosion-resistant material in petroleum, chemical and textile industries due to its corrosion resistance. Its specific applications include: conveyor pipes, exhaust pipes, steam pipes for conveying corrosive gases, high-pressure oil pipes for rolling mills, high-pressure and low-pressure pipes for aircraft hydraulic and cold-pressure systems, distillation columns, heat exchangers, linings of kettles, towers and tanks, valves and other chemical equipment.

The performance of seals has a great influence on the efficiency and performance of the whole machine and equipment. PTFE material has the characteristics of corrosion resistance, aging resistance, low friction coefficient, non-stickiness, wide temperature range and good elasticity, which makes it very suitable for manufacturing seals with high corrosion resistance and temperature higher than 100 C. Such as machine, heat exchanger, high pressure vessel, large diameter vessel, valve, pump groove flange seals, glass reaction pot, flat flange, large diameter flange seals, shaft, piston rod, valve rod, worm pump, tie rod seals and so on.

Excellent properties of polytetrafluoroethylene pipes

1. Heat resistance. Polyethylene tube will deform at 150 C, while PTFE can withstand 280 C and instantaneous temperature can reach 320 C.

2. Corrosion resistance. Polyethylene pipes are not resistant to oxidizing acids; polytetrafluoroethylene pipes are more resistant to corrosion than polytetrafluoroethylene pipes, which are acid, alkali, oxidant and reductant resistant.

3. Flame retardancy. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) pipes can be ignited and spontaneously ignited; PTFE pipes are not easy to ignite and extinguish as soon as they leave the fire, because they are flammable only when the oxygen content is more than 95%.

4. Polytetrafluoroethylene pipe is more expensive than polyethylene pipe.

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) pipes are mainly anticorrosive and high temperature resistant materials. Heart bypass surgery, for example, can be used, and some demanding food industries can also be used for packaging.
